Mookaite 450 gm parcel of Mixed Pieces

This versatile and beautiful stone is mined in WA and is named after the 700,000 acre sheep station, Mooka Station, where it was first discovered. It is wonderful to use in a mosaic because of the wide variety of lovely colours, and once cut into manageable sized pieces, can be cut with a tile nipper into regular shapes.  Work with Mookaite in the same way as you would Smalti, using a direct embedding technique. Predominantly  red, white and yellow but also has areas of bone/ivory, orange, purple, maroon, pink, crimson and  mustard. Every piece is unique.
