During this two day workshop you will make a unique weatherproof sculpture using
wire and our specially formulated cement based coating, Sculpt & Stick. 
You may have an idea already, or you can choose from our many designs.  
Dogs, cats, turtles, owls, roosters, chooks, native animals, abstract forms and many
more. It is our job to guide you to bring your ideas into reality.
You will also learn other sculpture methods using Artopia's sculpture medium (S&S).
We will demonstrate and do exercises in covering polystyrene shapes and using S&S
as a modelling medium. 
This method is perfect for those wishing  to apply a mosaic finish to their sculpture
but you can also apply your final coat in many other ways. If your final coat is a
render, you can complete the sculpture during the workshop, but if you choose to
apply mosaics, then this process will need to take place in your own time or during other Artopia classes.  

Two Day Schedule
DAY ONE 10am til 4pm: Over the course of the day you will learn how to build an armature from wire. We will work with you individually in the group setting, helping you with your ideas and ensuring that you succeed. In the afternoon, you will learn how to make a weatherproof cement based mixture using our specially formulated 'Sculpt & Stick' and apply it to the armature.
 
DAY TWO 10am til 3pm: You will apply the second coat of Sculpt & Stick to your armature as well as learn other sculpture methods using S&S including:

  • how to use S&S as a modelling medium

  • how to coat a polystyrene shape with S&S

These will be demonstrations and hands on exercises and, depending on your progress with your armature, there might be time to make some other small sculptures. There will be time set aside to discuss the final finish for your sculpture, including  mosaic ideas with lots of tips and tricks. 
 

Cost: $180 PLUS materials charge (approximately $30-$50 for the suggested sized sculpture). Includes 2 yummy lunches, bottomless tea and coffee and snacks.

ACCOMODATION: There are many accommodation options on Phillip Island, including around the immediate vicinity of our studio in Surf Beach. Sharing a holiday house with other attendees is a good option to keep costs down. For this particular workshop we have booked the lovely holiday house across the road for the Friday and Saturday nights (we can book it for longer if anyone wishes). It is very reasonably priced, about $110 per night* plus $60 cleaning fee (so that works out around $40- $80 per night per room depending on how many people and how many nights). *note: this could be higher during peak season. If you want to reserve a bed in that house, let me know before others snap up the offer. It will be fun to stay overnight as we will all have dinner together and share some laughs. If the first house fills up, we will help you find an alternative.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Full payment reserves your place. If you need to cancel, you can do so up to 48 hours before the workshop but a $30 fee will be retained and the balance refunded. Should you need to cancel within 48 hours of the workshop, a refund can only be given if a replacement can be found for your place.  IF YOU ARE CANCELLING BECAUSE OF COVID RELATED REASONS, EVIDENCE MUST BE SUPPLIED AND THEN A VOUCHER FOR THE FULL AMOUNT WILL BE ISSUED WHICH CAN BE USED FOR FUTURE WORKSHOPS OR SPENT ON MOSAIC MATERIALS IN OUR FULLY STOCKED ONLINE SUPPLY STORE. IF YOU PREFER A REFUND, A $30 BOOKING FEE WILL BE RETAINED TO COVER COSTS OF THE ONLINE FEES.
